Gemstones are often associated with certain healing and/or metaphysical properties.  Below are just some of these beliefs.  Beaded Chic does not make any claims that these stones have these abilities.

Amazonite:  This stone is named after the women warriors of the Amazon and considered to respresent a balance between masculine and feminine energy.  It is said to promote kindness and pracitcality and to be an excellent stone for artists and men.  Sometimes the pale azure blue amazonite is known as the lucky "Hope Stone".  Part of the feldspar group, Amazonie is mainly found in the United States and Austrailia.

Pearl:  Once thought to be tears of the gods, pearls have been associated with purity, innocence, and faith.  The birthstone for June, pearls are also closely connected with the moon and hence female energy and nurturing because of the ways pearls are made.  Said to also work well in helping with depression and mood swings.  Some cultures believe that pearls keep children safe and prevent newlywed women from crying.

Malachite:  With banded shades of green, this stone is said to promote protection, power, peace, and success in business.  Legend tells that if worn, it can warn of impending danger by breaking into pieces.  Other beliefs state that a small piece of malachite can protect children from nightmares.  Worn on the skin near your heart, it can expand your ability to love.  Malachite is found in Zaire, Germany, France, Chile, Arizona, and New Mexico.

Iolite:  Ancients believed that it could unlock creativity in an artist. It is a stone of vision and creative expression.Iolite supports the healing of the eyes, stimulates memory and helps with sleep imbalances. 
The major sources of gem grade iolite come from Sri Lanka, India, Madagascar and Burma.

Onyx:  Said to  help release negative emotions such as sorrow and grief.  Other attribute inclued fortifying one's self confidence and responsibility, a sharpening of one's senses and also encouraging healthy egotism. There are deposits of onyx all over the world, but the primary source for jewelry grade stones is probably Brazil. Other significant deposits are in India, Madagascar and even parts of California and Arizona

Jade: Jade is an ancient stone that has historically been used to attract love. Jade can be used to bring money into your life. Jade is also a protective stone, guarding against accidents and misfortune.   

Ruby:  The ruby is considered to be the most powerful gem in the universe, and is associated with many astral signs. To own a ruby is said to have contentment and peace. Placed under a pillow the ruby may ward off bad dreams. Ruby rings should be worn on the left hand so as to receive the life force and have protection. Given as a gift, the ruby is a symbol of friendship and love. The ruby is also the symbol of vitality and royalty.
